Alfredo is from Brazil. Born in Salvador City in Bahia, moved to the United States in 1989. Alfredo met his beautiful wife Jody Mitchell in 1995. Jody was born and raised on Maui . Both were blessed with their wonderful twin daughters Wailani and Imehana who are being brought up with the gift of Aloha (to live life with love and affection for all).

"I have always had an affinity with water, my spiritual base is connected through my ability to serve humanity as an Ocean Safety Officer for my lifeguard duties, and to educate children and adults both in Brazil and the US in ways to respect the ocean. Being a father, I understand the importance of teaching our children the right things in life, as they are the future caretakers of life. Education and awareness to me represents how best to balance a positive interactive experience, using respect as a valuable resource. Education is the key to knowledge, and with knowledge safety measures can be placed to ensure a continued quality of life. Environmental concerns and responsible management of our resources, including human resources are a key element to enjoying our future waterways worldwide. Kaleo is an Ocean Safety Officer for the County of Maui. He has worked for the County of Maui for 11+ years and stationed at tower 07 located at Baldwin beach next to the town of Paia. Kaleo has been surfing all his life (33 years) and has been involved with tow in surfing for the past 8 years plus. In addition, Kaleo has done a lot of ocean safety for Laird Hamilton, Derrick Doerner, David Kalama, Pet Cabrinha, and the rest of the strapped crew at various surf spots on Maui's North Shore. Also, Kaleo has worked for surf photographers such as Don King, Sonny Miller, Mike Pricket. Plus surf movies and videos such as Laird Strapped, James Bond, In God's Hands, Step into Liquid, and more. As a tow in surfer, he also acts as a back-up driver for Dave Kalama & the boys. Being an Ocean Safety Officer, Kaleo has gone through a lot of on the job training including First Responder, USLA, K38 Rescue, Coast Guard Auxiliary, and he is a certified rescue diver as well as a ski operator.
